The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination by direct providers of housing, such as landlords and real estate companies, as well as other entities, such as municipalities, banks or other lending institutions and homeowners' insurance companies whose discriminatory practices make housing unavailable to persons, because of:

religion
sex
national origin
ancestry
familial status or presence of children
marital status
disability
age (except minors)
sexual orientation
gender identity or expression
veteran status
legal source of income
The Youth and Community Services Division can:
Provide Bristol residents information regarding their rights and responsibilities under the Connecticut Landlord / Tenant Law
Provide information to Bristol residents regarding all types of housing programs and housing agencies
Receive and process housing complaints, including those of alleged discrimination
