Simple Recycling
The City of Bristol has partnered with Simple Recycling so that residents can recycle clothing/textiles by placing them at the curb on their regular recycle day. Pink collection bags are obtained through Simple Recycling. The items are sold to thrift stores for resale. For more information, click here.
Upcycling
Upcycling is when you create a new use for an existing object, rather than throwing it away. Examples of upcycling are: using toilet paper rolls to organize cables and cords, reusing empty tissue boxes as plastic shopping bag dispensers, creating a piece of furniture (like a coffee table) with a wood pallet, etc.
Donations
Some local donation options include: For Goodness Sakes, Savers, Goodwill, Salvation Army, Bristol Public Library, etc.
Buy, sell, trade
Websites that allow you to buy, sell, or trade used items with others are another great way to keep unwanted items out of the trash. Some of these sites include: BookMooch, Listia, Swop.com, Thred Up, Craigslist, Let Go, etc.
Other Options
Best Buy (electronics and appliances are refurbished and resold or recycled)
