Curbside Recycling Collection

Program Overview

The City of Bristol collects recycling curbside for Bristol residential properties containing one dwelling unit but not more than five units. This does not include businesses, hospitals, motels or hotels, apartment buildings, nursing centers, condominiums, or dwellings on private roads. Recycling is collected curbside every other week on the day after your rubbish collection (Friday rubbish collection has Monday recycle collection). Each unit in the eligible building receives one rubbish and one recycle barrel. The cost of rubbish and recycling services are included in the property taxes.

Placement Guidelines for Barrels

Place barrels at the curb by 6:00 am on the day of pick up. Maintain 5 feet of clearance on either side of each barrel and one car length clearance in front of each barrel. All materials must be inside the barrel. We cannot pick up any materials next to the barrel.

Recycling Tips (Video)

View the recyclable items information guide in English or in Spanish to learn about what goes in your recycle barrel. For additional help, visit our How Do I Dispose of... page, where you can search for disposal information for a specific item. You can put all recyclable materials together in the same barrel. There is no need to separate papers from cans and bottles or other materials. All materials must be loose (not bagged) inside the barrel. Rubbish is not allowed in recycle barrels.
