Overview
The management of the city retirement system shall be vested in a retirement board consisting of ten members, as follows:
- A member of the City Council
- A member of the Board of Finance
- Comptroller
- City Treasurer
- 3 electors of the city, none of whom shall be an officer or employee of the city,
- 1 elector of the city who shall be a member of the city’s employees local number 1338 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO,
- 1 elector of the city who shall be a member of the city’s employees Bristol Professionals and Supervisors Association (BPSA)
- 1 elector of the city who shall be a member of the city’s employees Police Union
- 1 elector of the city who shall be a member of the city’s employees Local 773 (Fire Union)
- Mayor
The board consists of ten members serving five-year terms with the exception of:
- One council member – Two-year term
- One Board of Finance member – Three-year term
