Zoning Enforcement

The Zoning Enforcement Office determines whether proposed uses of land are permitted under the zoning regulations, which are adopted by the Zoning Commission. The zoning regulations specify the permitted uses in each zone from the placement and height of a storage shed in a residential zone, to the size and location of a shopping mall in a commercial zone.

We are associated with the Building Department because much of what we do is related to the issuance of building permits. Connecticut law requires that certain projects must comply with local zoning regulations prior to the issuance of a building permit.

 Our Location

The Zoning Enforcement Office is located in the Building Department, second floor of City Hall.
