Elderly & Disabled Homeowners Tax Relief

Brief Program Description 

This program is for Elderly & Disabled Homeowners that meet the required qualifications listed below. The benefit is reflected in a reduction to the annual Real Estate taxes on a primary residential property. The re-application process is every other year.

 Homeowners Tax Relief Requirements

  • Driver’s license or birth certificate showing that you or your spouse must have been 65 years of age by December 31, 2023
  • File between February 1, 2024 and May 15, 2024
  • If you are not 65, you must be over 18 and social security disabled; you must submit a recent TPQY printout from Social Security indicating that you are a disabled individual and the date which the disability began
  • Maximum income:
    • Single - $43,800
    • Married - $53,400
  • Proof of all 2023 income (qualifying income is total income for IRS plus Social Security income including Medicare):
    • Bank interest
    • Pension
    • Social Security (including Medicare)
    • Any other income from 2022

In order for us to process your claim, a copy of your SSA 1099 Form must accompany your application. If you file a 2023 federal income tax return we must have a copy. Also, you must own the property or have life use of the property and be liable for payment of taxes. (Ownership as of October 1, 2023)
